Alex Smith is Partner and Head of Asset Management at Newport Capital Partners, where he leads execution of investment strategies across property operations, leasing, and redevelopment. As a member of the Investment Committee, he also supports portfolio management, investor relations, and capital markets activities.

Alex joined Newport in 2019 and brings over a decade of retail-focused real estate experience. Prior to Newport, he managed over $600 million in regional mall and lifestyle center assets at Starwood Retail Partners. He began his career at General Growth Properties (GGP), where he worked across investments, JV partnerships, and corporate finance.
