Alex Smith is Partner and Co-Portfolio Manager at Newport Capital Partners, where he leads execution of investment strategies across asset management, property operations, leasing, and redevelopment. As a member of the Investment Committee, he also supports investor relations, and capital markets activities.

Alex joined Newport in 2019 and brings over a decade of retail-focused real estate experience. Prior to Newport, he managed over $600 million in regional mall and lifestyle center assets at Starwood Retail Partners. He began his career at General Growth Properties (GGP), where he worked across investments, JV partnerships, and corporate finance.
