Derrick McGavic is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Newport Capital Partners, where he leads investment strategy, portfolio management, and capital markets. With more than 30 years of institutional real estate experience, he has executed over $5 billion in transactions and helped position Newport as a leading investor in neighborhood retail centers across dense U.S. submarkets.

Prior to founding Newport in 2004, Derrick served as Managing Director at RREEF, overseeing more than $3.5 billion in assets across commingled funds and separate accounts. He was a member of multiple investment committees and led key initiatives in structured finance and client relations. His earlier experience includes roles with JER Partners and LaSalle Partners. Derrick is also a former Officer in the Marines.
